How do they make you feel? (Acrylic on Canvas) - 2023

This is a piece that I created because I wanted a challenge. I don’t usually ever paint more than one person, so I thought that I would try something new. I was drawn to the original reference photo because of the ambiguity of how the woman in the photo feels. Is she safe or does she need to be saved? Is he a source of her comfort or a cause of her discomfort? I created this piece to question what relationships mean. I’m big on investing in your community, not only for personal satisfaction but for the betterment of those around you. Whilst building community, it is also important to be selective to allow wisdom and love to guide you. In the process of building your community, you may ask yourself how they make you feel. Do they aid you in the spiritual, professional and emotional aspects of your life? This was the reason I made this piece to help me process and question.
